Applying for the NDIS starts with checking your eligibility. You'll need to be under 65, live in Australia, and have a permanent or significant disability that affects your daily life. If you meet these requirements, you can request an Access Request Form from the NDIA (National Disability Insurance Agency) by phone or through their website.
Once you complete the form, you'll provide supporting evidence from health professionals about your disability. The NDIA will then review your application and let you know if you're approved. If successful, you'll be invited to create your first NDIS plan with an NDIA planner or Local Area Coordinator (LAC).

Your NDIS partner will often be your "my NDIS contact" - someone you can go to for help, guidance, and questions throughout the process. They can connect you with local community supports, create a Community Connections plan, and walk you through the details of applying for the NDIS.
To find an NDIS partner in your community, you can use the NDIS website or call 1800 800 110. If your area isn't covered by an NDIS partner, an NDIA team member will support you instead.
